| Building an Avatar 1: The Attachment Points |
| Tutorial Build |
| Written by Rienne Verne |

This is a beginner level tutorial: you will learn how to build an avatar without knowing to link the prims. For this we will be using the attachment points. Before starting to build the avatar, I have a few reminders for the beginners:
- Tinies - or tiny avatars - are smaller than common avatars. They appear as very small and nice creatures. The secret for building those tiny avatars is the Animation Overrider (a script) and an animation which makes the avatar to fold while its body is covered by prims. - Furry is an avatar representing an anthropomorphic animal - this animal stays upright like the humans. - Other avatars that need prims: dragons, monsters, elves etc.. 1°) If you need help or you have questions, don't hesitate to ask on the forum. 2°) There are 30 attachment points on the avatar's body and 8 attachment points on the HUD (these are visible only on the resident's screen). 3°) Here are the attachment points for the avatar's body:
4°) Attention: When you attach your object to the attachment point, or if you want to change the attachment point for an object, you have to place it on the ground, to make sure that the attachment point is stored on SL server. 5°) Attaching an object to your avatar: open the inventory, right click on the object you want to attach to your avatar, choose Attach To and then choose the attachment point from the context menu. The next stage of our build: We shall need a special tool for building or modifying our own avatar: a Pose Stand. Click on the link: Building a Stand Pose |
